Region of Waterloo Public Health reported two new COVID-related deaths on Friday -- a woman who was in her 80s and a man who was also in his 80s. It raises the local death toll to 431.

Hospitalizations have also increased by 13 to 46 in total. Two patients are in intensive care with COVID-19.

Since the last update on Monday, there have been 220 new cases, putting the overall total at 47,717. The resolved case rate is 98.4 per cent.

The active caseload is up to 297.

In terms of variants of concern, the region's dashboard shows 158 of those cases (93.5 per cent) have been linked to the Omicron variant since May 29.

86.5 per cent of residents five and over in Waterloo Region are now fully vaccinated. Over 1.37 million doses have been administered to local residents, including over 304,000 third doses. 52.1 per cent of residents have received a third dose.

53.4 per cent of children between 5 and 11 have received at least one dose. 40.9 are fully vaccinated.
