Cambridge Shelter Corporation, the organization that operates The Bridges shelter on Simcoe Street, has asked that the community press pause on donations as volunteers sort through contributions made over the holidays.

"Thanks to a caring community we are overwhelmed with donations this Christmas season," reads a Facebook post from Thursday.

Although the kindness from the community is "greatly appreciated," the organization says it needs to inventory the donated items currently in storage and distribute them to those in need before accepting any more.

"We will report back on our most needed items as soon as we have the list in hand," reads the post.

Cambridge Shelter Corp. regularly turns to the community for donations of essential items like warm clothing, furniture and household items. The non-profit offers 64 emergency shelter beds for men and women experiencing homelessness and 20 bachelor apartments to provide supported second-stage housing.
