Cambridge voters can learn where their candidates stand on the environment in the first virtual all-candidates debate in the Cambridge and North Dumfries riding.

The Wednesday event is moderated by 570 News host Mike Farwell and organized by 100 Debates on the Environment, a national non-partisan movement coordinated GreenPAC, a non-partisan non-profit organization that endorses political candidates who have demonstrated environmental leadership.

100 Debates "brings together community groups, non-profits, businesses and individuals working to increase the level of environmental leadership in Canada by holding 100 strictly non-partisan all-candidate debates on the environment."

The debate, which runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., will focus on the candidates' positions on environmental issues including the climate crisis, greenhouse gas emissions, and biodiversity conservation.

Cambridge Green Party candidate Michele Braniff, Liberal incumbent Bryan May and NDP candidate Lorne Bruce have confirmed their attendance, with Conservative candidate Connie Cody unconfirmed.

Registration for the event is required.

The Cambridge Chamber of Commerce is hosting two virtual Chamber Chats featuring the local federal candidates.

The first one, for the Cambridge North Dumfries riding, takes place Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and the second chat, featuring candidates in the Kitchener-South Hespeler federal riding, takes place Sept. 15 at the same time.

Both are for for chamber members only and registration details can be found on the chamber website.
