Cambridge Kin Carnival returns to Riverside Park this week

The carnival begins Thursday and runs until Sunday

The Kin Club of Cambridge will be putting on its “ultimate carnival experience” beginning Thursday at Riverside Park in Preston.

The Cambridge Kin Carnival has been happening for over 70 years and is the largest annual fundraiser for the club.

Rides, vendors, games, food trucks and the Kin fry tent are the main attractions residents can expect when walking through the gates.

“It’s one of the first family friendly fairs of the year and a time for some great memories,” Sylvia Wagner, president of the Kin Club of Cambridge, said.

“It's a lot of work planning, setting up and running it so we’re hoping for warm weather and a successful carnival.”

Entry into the carnival is free, but proceeds from the various activities are reinvested back into the community.

The Cambridge Food Bank, Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Haven House, Salvation Army Wish Tree, Cambridge & District Humane Society, Home Hospice, Argus House, Cystic Fibrosis, Fairview Mennonite Home and Langs Farm are just a few of the organizations and causes the club supports.

“Kin's motto is ‘serving the community's greatest need’,” Wagner said.

“We’re a service group with members who volunteers to raise money for a variety of causes and almost all our funds back go back into the community.”

Wagner says up until Wednesday residents can purchase discounted ride tickets at Giant Tiger in Preston or Eventbrite Kin Carnival.
