Cambridge offering free aquatic leadership courses

Those interested in helping others enjoy a little pool time are eligible to take a free aquatic leadership course.

The City of Cambridge says the courses are aimed at those wanting to become a fully certified lifeguard, swim instructor, program or aquafit instructor.

Applicants can choose to take one of the following:

  • Bronze Medallion
  • Bronze Cross
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C
  • National Lifeguard
  • Swim and Lifesaving Instructor 
  • Full Lifeguard Course
  • High Five – Principles of Healthy Development 
  • Aquafit Instructor

Courses run this summer and attendees will be asked to work or volunteer with the city this fall.

Spaces are limited and the application deadline is July 31.

Earlier today, Ontario lowered the minimum age requirement to become a lifeguard to 15 years old.
