Get ready to peer through the theatrical ‘looking glass,’ and catch a glimpse at the life of one of history’s most misunderstood geniuses.
Penny & Pound Theatre Productions in Cambridge continues to celebrate seven successful seasons this year as Ontario's premiere youth and young adult theatre company with the upcoming musical presentation, Curiouser, presented in partnership with The Cambridge Symphony Orchestra and The Dance Centre KW.
The production will run from July 7 to 10 at the Cambridge Arts Theatre (Galt Little Theatre) at 47 Water St. in Cambridge.
Journey ‘down the rabbit hole,’ and meet the mind behind Wonderland in this new bio-musical about the extraordinary life of beloved children’s author, Lewis Carroll.
Curiouser is a locally written, family-friendly musical about the early life of Carroll, from his childhood in Yorkshire to his eventual friendship with the young girl who would become ‘Alice,’ Dodgson’s conservative Victorian upbringing and keen knack for storytelling are paralleled through the famous characters which audiences have come to love.
“The show blends both fiction and historical fact, as well as Carroll’s beloved characters, to bring the author’s journey to life on the stage,” said Piper J. Distel, associate artistic director at Penny & Pound Theatre Productions.
“Curiouser shines a positive light on neurodivergence in the arts community, and touches on subjects such as mental health, bullying, peer pressure and embracing one’s differences in a way that is relatable to audiences of all ages.”
Founded in 2015, Penny & Pound Theatre Productions is a not-for-profit young adult theatre company with a mission is to offer the youth and young adults of Cambridge and area the opportunity to perform in full-scale, professional-quality, youth-only productions that enhance their abilities and enrich their love of theatre.
Curiouser was initially produced in December 2021 to rave reviews and is being relaunched by popular demand.
