Anyone who would like to participate can show up at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.

The Hespeler Optimist Club will be out making the community a more beautiful place to live on April 29 through their community clean up day.

And their inviting others who live in Cambridge to join them.

It’s a small way that the club can help fulfill their commitment to the community says member Amanda Willick.

“As the mission of Optimist International and the Hespeler Optimist Club is to bring out the best in our youth, our communities, and ourselves, a community clean up seemed like a great way to get everyone involved and excited for spring,” Willick said.

“We hope to have a positive impact on our youth and encourage them to get excited about being a part of their community and getting involved.”

Tasked with helping organize events for the club, Willick says anyone who would like to join is welcome.

“Anyone interested in participating just needs to show up to the Hespeler Optimist Park and Hespeler Memorial Arena,” she said.

“We will have a table set up and provide the necessary supplies. We have also arranged for the full bags to be picked up after we've collected.”

Supplies include garbage bags, gloves and pickers if someone is in need of one.

Willick is excited to be surrounded by people that are passionate about the environment.

“People can expect positive interactions with like-minded individuals living within their immediate community and a personal sense of accomplishment, appreciation, satisfaction, and self-respect from helping out and making our environment a clean and safe space,” she added.

The clean up will take place between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. beginning at 640 Ellis Rd.
