The dedicated work of our local physicians will be recognized May 1 on Doctors’ Day.
On that day, Doctors4Cambridge is urging members of the community, including local dignitaries and business owners, to show their support on social media by using the hashtag #DoctorsDay.
“Our healthcare professionals perform a vital service in our community which has been very apparent during the last two years of this pandemic,” says Cambridge Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Greg Durocher. “Their commitment and dedication to ensuring our wellbeing is definitely worth recognition.”
For those wishing to show their support, suggested messages or images to share can be found at www.doctors4cambridge.com. As well, there will be signs posted around the community promoting Doctors’ Day including at local medical clinics and outside Cambridge Memorial Hospital. There will also be notices announcing Doctors’ Day on several electronic billboards.
“We have gone through another incredible and stressful year for our local medical community, and we hope through social media we can show them how much we appreciate their continued hard work and personal sacrifices in keeping us safe and healthy,” says Physician Recruitment Co-ordinator Donna Gravelle. “Showing them how important they are to our community is something that means a great deal to our dedicated physicians.”
Doctors’ Day is recognized annually by the Ontario Medical Association, the Province of Ontario, and health-care organizations provincewide to acknowledge the extraordinary contributions of Ontario doctors and May 1 was selected to mark the birthday of Dr. Emily Stowe, the first female physician to practise in Canada.
