WEATHER ALERT

*************************
Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Kitchener - Cambridge - Region of Waterloo

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail.

Hazards:
Strong wind gusts up to 100 km/h.
Up to nickel size hail possible.

Timing:
Late this morning and continuing into this afternoon.

Discussion:
A line of severe thunderstorms currently just west of London is moving northeast over the area. Strong wind gusts and hail are possible with this line.

Locally heavy rain is also possible. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
