Nominations now open for Cambridge Youth Appreciation Awards

Residents can now nominate young people in the community for 10 Youth Appreciation Awards.

The City of Cambridge will be honouring the talents and contributions of young residents by handing out their Youth Appreciation Awards in 10 categories.

The awards are given out to promote the positivity of young people and generate awareness about the valuable efforts made by youth in the community.

Awards:

The Rising Leader of the Year Age 12-14

Given to the youth who has made a positive impact in the community and displays growing leadership skills and outstanding potential.

Youth Change Maker 

This award is handed out to an individual who demonstrates advocacy and awareness for social change.

Youth Eco Activist

Awarded to a youth who shows care for the environment and is actively trying to make the planet a better place for future generations.

Outstanding Citizen

The recipient of this award is someone who demonstrates kindness and commits to acts of bettering the lives of others.

Youth Artistic

Given to a youth who shows long-term commitment to the arts and uses their talents to better the community in one or more of the following areas; multimedia, theatre, dance, music or visual arts.

Youth Athlete

Awarded to a youth who exemplifies sportsmanship and has contributed to the sports community on or off the field.

Resilient Youth

This award recognizes youth who have achieved progress in a particular aspect of their life and exhibits a commitment to personal change and growth.

High Five Champion

Given to youth who are trained in HIGH FIVE and help younger children build friendships, master skills, play with intention and participate in programs. They show what a caring leader looks like.

Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

Awarded to the person who promotes the creation of an inclusive and welcoming community.

Outstanding Youth Award

An award given to any group that works to create a positive impact within the community, such as an after-school group, a community youth group, or friends who are paving a positive pathway for themselves and others.

Nominees must be between 12 and 21 years old. They must reside in the Cambridge area or attend school in the city.

Nominations will remain open until April 18.

The Youth Appreciation Awards ceremony will take place on May 2.
