Regional councillors have joined the call for a search to be done of all former residential school sites.

It follows the discovery of the remains of 215 Indigenous children in Kamloops, B.C. late last month.

Regional council is calling on the provincial and federal government to take immediate action and do searches on all 139 former historic Indian Residential Schools in the country.

Council says The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of 2008 demands the truth and that action is taken.

The motion comes from Wilmot Township councillor Angie Hallman.
