Hoping to help keep some of the strain off local hospitals this Christmas, the region's COVID, Cold, and Flu Care Clinic will be staying open through the new year.

"A lot of times over the holiday season many services are close, and we are not," said Vickie Murray, director of the clinic on Sportsworld Drive in Kitchener. "We are going to be open seven-days-a-week right through the holidays and beyond."

The clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from December 24 to December 26, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from December 27 to December 29, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from December 30 to January 1. You will still though need an appointment to be seen.

"Yes, we are an appointment only clinic but it's very easy to get a same-day appointment," Murray said. "All you have to do is call our clinic [at] (226) 806-5690, book an appointment, they're almost always the same day but for sure the next day, and we'll see you for COVID assessments, COVID treatment, but also those cold and flu symptoms."

Murray also said the clinic has so far been seeing about 250 people a week with room for that number to double if need be.

"We want people to know, over the holidays, if they need us, we are there."
