Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Waterloo Region and surrounding areas.
The weather agency said to expect maximum temperatures near 31 degrees with hot and humid conditions on Tuesday with an overnight minimum temperature of 20 degrees providing little relief from the heat.
Environment Canada advises keeping hydrated and keep cool by dressing for the weather and spending a few hours each day in a cool place.
It also states that everyone is at risk from heat especially older adults, infants and young children, and those with chronic illnesses.
