Student writing contest to benefit Habitat for Humanity

Students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 will share what a home means to them

Once again, students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 are being asked to share what a home means to them through a national writing contest.

Every local student who enters will be helping Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region build affordable homes. That's because each entry earns a $10 donation.

In 2022, there were over 700 local entries, with two students with the Waterloo Region District School Board finishing as runners up. As a result of last year's participation, over $25,000 was awarded to Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region.

There will be three grand prize winners across Canada this year, meaning each will receive a $30,000 grant to help their Habitat for Humanity.

Winners will be announced by June.

Submissions will be accepted by mail or online until February 24.
