Thousands of Helly Hansen sweaters recalled due to 'flammability hazard'

The affected products, which incorporate brushed cotton fabrics that have undergone a specific treatment, either do not or may not comply with the Textile Flammability Regulations, says Health Canada.

Health Canada has issued a recall notice for thousands of Helly Henson sweaters and hoodies because they may be a "flammability hazard."

The company reported that 128,680 units of the affected product were sold in Canada since August 2019. 

The affected products, which incorporate brushed cotton fabrics that have undergone a specific treatment, either do not or may not comply with Canada's Textile Flammability Regulations. They were manufactured in Sri Lanka and Turkey.

As of January 9, 2023, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in connection with the affected products in Canada or in any other jurisdiction.

The list of affected products includes more than 600 purchase orders. 

Anyone who may have purchased a piece of clothing they suspect may be on the list is asked to check the side seam labels for the purchase order number and contact Helly Hansen for a replacement credit.
