Seasons Cambridge Retirement Community shares highlights from the recent Grandparents' Day celebration, where residents and their families spent the day with Triple C Farm’s travelling petting zoo. The Seasons Cambridge team welcomed ten animals, including a sheep, a pony, a donkey, an alpaca, goats, and bunnies.

The inspiration behind inviting a petting zoo stemmed from the belief that animals bring therapeutic joy, making it the perfect way to connect generations. Attendees aged nine to 90 experienced the pleasure of interacting with the animals, resulting in countless smiles and laughter.

The arrival of the animals was particularly entertaining, as they were brought up through the elevator.

Resident Walter Gowing raved, "Guess what? I got to ride in the elevator with the donkey. Not very many people can say they've done that!"

The excitement continued as residents took Willa, the donkey, the pony, and the alpaca for walks around the outdoor track. The bunnies were a hit with the children, who spent hours watching them.

The Seasons Cambridge Seniorosity team made this event even more memorable by organizing a bake sale. The bake sale raised an impressive $400 for the Alzheimer Society Waterloo-Wellington, highlighting their commitment to important causes while having fun.

Residents expressed their happiness, stating how perfect the day was. "Everyone seemed to enjoy the petting zoo, little ones and big ones!" remarked resident Joan Thomlinson.

Resident Walter also added, "I was so pleased about the bake sale for the Alzheimer Society. It is such an important cause and is near and dear to my heart. I bought a bunch of cupcakes and shared them with my family!"
