The Waterloo Regional Police Service is looking for new recruits.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service will be at Coffee Culture on Main Street in Galt on Tuesday for a recruitment session.

The event is another push by the service to persuade new recruits into a career in policing after welcoming 13 officers to the force earlier this month.

“The Recruiting Outreach Team has hosted several different events since January, including in-person events at our headquarters and online recruitment sessions,” Staff Sgt. Matt Halliday of the recruiting outreach team at WRPS said.

“They've been very impactful as we can meet the applicants in-person and get to know members of our community. Members of our police service come from a variety of different work and life experiences and sometimes need that personal connection with a recruiter to take the next step. These events help to create that personal connection.”

Those in attendance can learn more about the job and the various career paths within policing, while having their questions answered.

“Community members can have a one-on-one meeting with a member of the recruitment outreach team,” Halliday said.

“We will be discussing the different opportunities that a career in policing can provide, how to apply to be an officer and the steps of the constable selection process. Policing is a very rewarding career for a variety of reasons.  We have the opportunity to help people daily. Every day is different and brings new challenges.”

The recruitment session will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 138 Main St.
