Where and how to honour Black History Month in Waterloo Region

There are plenty of ways to celebrate in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo

Discussion panels and workshops are on the agenda of Black History Month events in the region.

February marks Black History Month and provides an opportunity to celebrate and honour the legacy of Black Canadians.

Locally, residents will be able to take park in several events in the Region of Waterloo throughout the month.

Conestoga College ABC Black History Event

Programming for African, Caribbean, and Black-identifying students that aims to provide peer-to-peer connection.

When: Feb. 3, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Art From the Heart Processing Night

An opportunity for people to come together to share in the healing nature of art.

When: Feb. 4, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Amplify (Navigating The World While Black)

Emcees Jon Corbin, Es, Creo and Anthony Sawyers play songs with the theme of “navigating the world while Black.”

Exodus: The Bob Marley Tribute-THEMUSEUM

A Bob Marley tribute band will be performing live, headlined by Juno award winning musician Lazo.

Black History Month 2023 Launch

Celebrate Black history, Black heritage and Black achievement during this one day event to kickoff Black History Month.

Our Hair Story Empowerment and Education Hair Workshop

This event is centred around learning, maintaining, embracing and understanding Black natural hair.

Black Love Day

This internationally recognized day will focus on love for yourself, love for the creator, love for your family, love for the black community and love for the black race.

Family and Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region Black Resource Fair

The Family and Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region will be hosting their second annual resource fair.

Caribbean Carnival

Celebrate the carnival with the Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region.

University of Waterloo: Elevating Black Excellence in the Workplace Panel Discussion

An opportunity to reflect and learn more about Black talent in the workforce.

Black History Month Celebration: Celebrating History and Weaving our Dreams

A full day of Black history celebrations.

Legacy Showcase: Past, Present and Future

Music Is My Weapon and The Freedom Marching Project collectively worked together to deliver this showcase of black culture through music, dance, fashion, food and art.
