WRDSB hosting job fair next Tuesday for BIPOC education workers

Virtual job fair will give Black, Indigenous and racialized workers a chance to gain employment with WRDSB in various departments

The WRDSB is hosting a virtual job fair next week for Black, Indigenous and racialized education workers.

Next Tuesday, May 24, a virtual job fair will be held for Black,Indigenous and racialized individuals seeking employment in various education and administrative positions for Waterloo District School Board.

The school board is aiming to have more diversity in their staff so students will feel more understood and see more representation in their schools. 

Their 2019 workforce census revealed gaps they are looking to fill. 

From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. they will be hosting a virtual job fair that people can sign up for through their Google Form on their website. 

Following a large session, the virtual job fair will offer separate rooms with hiring managers and administrators. 

WRDSB is actively looking for Black, Indigenous and racialized individuals seeking work in the following fields.

  • Educational Assistants and Child and Youth Workers
  • Early Childhood Educators
  • Custodial & Maintenance Staff
  • Secretarial/Clerical/IT
  • Professional Services Personnel (Social Workers, Psychological Consultants, Speech-Language Pathologists and Communicative Disorder Assistants)
  • Elementary teaching (Grades 1-8)
  • Secondary teaching (Grades 9-12)
