The YWCA Cambridge has unveiled the eight winners of its Women of Distinction Awards.

The 2023 awards feature five in the Women of Distinction category and three in special award categories, including the Young Trailblazer Award (25 and under), the Lifetime Achievement Award (55 plus) and the President’s Award.

The recipients of the Women of Distinction awards are: Rebecca Dickinson, Shupi Mapuranga, Ellie Hook, Maria Empringham, Stephanie Pearsall

Olivia Bluhm has been named the Young Trailblazer Award winner, Rana Mohommad will be honoured with the President’s Award and Joe-Ann McComb will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Women of Distinction Awards is YWCA Cambridge’s premiere fundraising event and has recognized over 350 women for their contributions to the community.

“Every year, we receive nominations of so many incredible women doing so many inspiring and systems-changing things,” said Kim Decker, YWCA Cambridge CEO.

“This year was no different. The selection committee certainly had their work cut out for them as they made their selections and I thank them for making those difficult decisions.”

The women will be officially recognized at an awards ceremony on June 14 at Langdon Hall Country House Hotel and Spa.

All ticket sales and sponsorship for the event will support community outreach, gender-based violence prevention programming, employment services and advocacy to end gender inequity and gender-based violence.
