The Cambridge RedHawks are making their home opener a full day celebration on Saturday.
Prior to puck drop on Sept. 14 against the Pelham Panthers at 7 p.m., the organization is hosting the community for an afternoon of activities and events in Soper Park.
A free kids fun zone, axe throwing, food trucks, a Cambridge Fire Department truck and music live on location from 107.5 Dave Rocks will be available from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Players are also going to be on hand for an autograph session from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Cambridge wrapped up their preseason schedule on Saturday with 4-3 home loss to the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins. Jack Martin, Cole Miranda and Will Bray found the back of the net, while goaltender Lennart Neisse stopped 35 of 39 shots.
The RedHawks open the regular season on Sept. 13 in St. Catharines before returning to Galt Arena Gardens the following night.
