Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame announces 2023 inductees

Four athletes, two builders and two teams will enter the Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame in May

Eight new inductees will enter the Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame as members of the 2023 induction class.

Four athletes, two builders and two teams will be honoured at a ceremony on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Cambridge Centre.

Former Cambridge Winterhawks and Winnipeg Jets forward Bryan Little, mother and daughter distance runners Leslie Carson and Lindsay Carson, and cyclist Leigh Hobson will be the four athletes entering the hall.

In the builders category, Cambridge Aquajets coach Ron Campbell, along with a joint induction of Ernie Overland and Marg Oliveira, who have been key members of the Cambridge speed skating club for over four decades, will take their place in the hall.

The 2018 OFSAA Sr. football champion Jacob Hespeler Hawks and the 2019 13U Cambridge Cubs "AAA" national champions will be enshrined as a team.

The current hall of fame features 205 athletes, teams and builders.

The 2023 induction ceremony will begin at 1 p.m.
