University of Waterloo women's hockey forward Leah Herrfort has been selected to represent Team Canada at the FISU World University Games in Lake Placid.

Former Cambridge Rivulettes forward Leah Herrfort has been selected to represent Team Canada at the FISU World University Games in Lake Placid, NY from Jan. 11 to 22.

Herrfort totalled 49 points in 104 games over three seasons for the Rivulettes between 2016 and 2019. In 11 playoff games she scored four goals and assisted on seven more.

After her career in Cambridge, she scored five goals and added eight assists in 31 games for NCAA Division I Union College before returning home to take to the ice for the University of Waterloo.

Herrfort, a native of nearby Palmerston, is enjoying the best season of her career with the Warriors. In 14 games she’s found the back of the net 10 times and recorded 10 assists for 20 points.

Canada will take on Slovakia on Jan. 11, Czechia on Jan. 14, Japan on Jan. 15 and Great Britain on Jan. 17 before closing out round robin play on Jan. 18. 

The semifinals are scheduled for Jan. 20, with the bronze and gold medal games taking place the following day on Jan. 21.
