Four RedHawks headed to GOJHL Top Prospects and Future Stars Games

The events are being hosted by the Ayr Centennials at the North Dumfries Community Centre

Cameron Fries, Brady Wissink, Matt Fries and Tyler Magoffin will all take part in the showcase games.

The Cambridge RedHawks will be well represented at both the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Top Prospects and Futures Stars Games on Dec. 27 at the nearby North Dumfries Community Centre.

Forward Cameron Fries and defenceman Brady Wissink will suit up for Team White in the Futures Stars Game.

Forward Matt Fries and defenceman Tyler Magoffin will take to the ice with Team White during the Top Prospects Game.

The Future Stars roster is made up of the top 16-year-old players in the GOJHL.

Cameron Fries has six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 25 games played this season. Wissink leads all RedHawks defenceman with 11 points.

The Top Prospects roster will see the top 17 and 18 year olds square off. 

Mathew Fries is averaging just over a point-per-game with 30 in 29 games. He’s scored nine goals and added 21 assists. Magoffin, meanwhile, has scored one goal and added three assists in 28 games.

The league is excited to run the two showcase events for the first time since before the pandemic.

“After having to cancel last year we couldn’t be more excited to have this incredible event back on the ice,” Brent Garbutt, GOJHL commissioner said.

“We have some of the best 16, 17 and 18-year old hockey players in Ontario ready to impress the scouts.”

Puck drop for the Future Stars Game is scheduled for 4 p.m., with the Top Prospects Game beginning at 7 p.m.

The RedHawks currently sit third in the Midwestern Conference with a 20-6-4-1 record.
