Unbeaten Canada edges Czechia 2-1 at World Para Hockey Championship

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Canada will put its unbeaten record to the test on Wednesday night when it faces the powerhouse United States squad in the World Para Hockey Championship at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Canada improved to 2-0 in the eight-team tournament on Tuesday by edging Czechia 2-1 on goals from captain Tyler McGregor and Adam Dixon, who started the night three points shy of the 250-point milestone in international play.

Goaltender Dominic Larocque made nine saves for Canada.

Radek Zelinka scored a second-period power-play goal for Czechia, which slipped to 1-1 in the Group A pool that includes the U.S. (2-0), Canada (2-0) and Korea (0-3).

China leads Pool B with a 2-0 record, followed by Germany and Italy, both at 1-1, and Norway at 0-2.

In earlier games Tuesday, Declan Farmer of Tampa, Fla., scored three goals as the United States blanked Korea 9-0, while Italy edged Germany 1-0.

ICE CHIPS: Dominic Cozzolino, who had an eight-point night for Canada in Monday's 15-1 romp over Korea, had his stats line changed from five goals and three assists, to four goals and four assists after the game. … Canada entered Tuesday's game against Czechia with a 12-0 record and 51-2 scoring advantage … In other games Wednesday, Germany plays China, and Norway faces Italy. The playoff round starts Friday.
