OCTOBER 28, 1928 – MAY 20, 2023

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Jean on May 20th, in her 94th year. She is survived by her son Jeff (Eleni), and her beloved grandchildren Iliana and John. Predeceased by her parents Alan McKay and Lura (Wainman), sister Katherine, and brother Dalton (Freida).

Jean was born in 1928 in Shawville, Quebec, and lived most of her adult life in Ottawa and surroundings. In her later years she moved to Cambridge, Ontario to be close to her son and family, where she became an active member of the community. As a former nurse, she greatly enjoyed her volunteer work with Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Jean was also a busy organizer of many Senior’s programs and outings, and an avid golfer. During her time at Fairview Mennonite home, where she spent many happy years, Jean was an enthusiastic participant in their many offerings and especially loved her visits to the library and the fitness classes.

Jean was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends, sharing stories and laughter. Iliana and John will forever keep these precious memories in their hearts. The frequent visits from her grand-dogs, Phillip and Glenna, never failed to brighten up her day. Everyone who was fortunate enough to know Jean will remember her kindness, quick wit, and feisty spirit.

The family would like to thank the staff of Fairview Mennonite home, the Palliative care nurses from ParaMed, and the staff of Lisaard House Hospice, who all provided compassionate care, peace, and love to Jean and her family.

Private services have been arranged. Donations made in memory of Jean to Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice, would be greatly appreciated and may be shared at www.couttsfuneralhome.com.
