Janet passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 74. Janet is survived by her husband, Richard Forde, sharing nearly 50 years of marriage. Beloved mother of Ryan Forde, Chad Forde (Marcie) and Dwight Forde. Proud Granny of Kyia. Dear sister of Patricia Rischewski (late Bruno). Janet is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Veronica “Sister Sybil” Cadogan, Patricia Odle, Jasmine Forde-Payne and Cheryl Welch, and brothers-in-law, Frederick Forde (deceased) and Maurice Welch. She will be fondly remembered by many Friends and Family Members.

Janet is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Beatrice Cadogan, brother Ronald Cadogan and sister Enid Wren.

“Betty’ was a longtime, active member of the congregation at St. John’s Anglican Church, and had many friends there. She was a lifetime member and supporter of the Congress of Black Women Waterloo Region. Her cooking would delight your soul, because it was infused with love, and she was a wonderful baker – no one left her home hungry. The centre of her family, the “Queen of the castle”, she was greatly loved.

Friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home; 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge,ON on Thursday, January 26 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will take place 11 am on Friday January 27 at St. John’s Anglican Church; 567 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, ON with interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery; 750 Fountain St. Cambridge, ON.
