JULY 18, 1947 – MARCH 15, 2023

Willemyntje (Willie) Lix passed away on March 15, 2023 suddenly as the result of a stroke only 8 months after the death of her husband Vern. Willie and Vern are now together again and would be celebrating 58 years of marriage.

Willie was born in Vlaardingen Holland and immigrated to Canada as a young girl with her family. She found the love of her life as a young teenager and married Vern when she was only 17.

Willie will be terribly missed by her two daughters Anne Marie Lemieux and Angela (Brad) Harvey. Willies presence is now especially missed by her daughter Angela with whom she lived with after the passing of Vern. Proud grandmother to Paul (Andrew), Matthew (Lindsey), Kane (Toby), Yvonne (Bobby) and Beth (Kenny) and great grandma to Paxton. She is survived by her four sisters, many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family.

Willie enjoyed the simple things in life such as camping, gardening, cooking and being an incredible devoted mother and wife. Willie did not work outside the home once she married but certainly did not sit idle. She attended every school trip for her girls and was well known by her daughter’s friends. She volunteered for the majority of her lifetime for the benefit of others. She gave of herself to Marsdale Manor and Riverbend, the Catholic Women’s League, the Saint Vincent de Paul society, the Out of the Cold program and many other community programs. Her hobbies included bowling all her life, singing in the choir, going to aqua fit, casino outings, and other activities.

Once Willies daughters had children, she devoted her support and love every single day to assisting the girls raise their children aside from her busy activities. She cherished all her grandchildren and they loved their grandma/oma.

Thank you to the kind nursing staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on the medicine wing for supporting Willie on her hard 6 day journey to God. Your support and kindness to her daughters will not be forgotten. Thank you to all of Willie’s friends and friends of her daughters for the prayers and support. Thank you to Brad and Chris Harvey for making a special gift for Willie to keep her close to her daughters. Thank you to her sister Erna for supporting her sister for many years living with the family.
