Mariana De Lourdes Baptista Maciel passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the age of 90.
Mariana was humble, caring, giving, and she instilled and demonstrated the importance of family values in our lives. She was an excellent cook, especially when it came to her canja (chicken soup), and the world’s greatest mother and grandmother. She had a talent for making beautiful crochets, from tablecloths to doilies, which we will cherish for years to come. Mariana will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children John (Beverley), Emmanuel (Sheryl), Maria (Marcello), and Manuel (Kim), sister Olimpia Melo (Adalberto), brother Manuel Humberto Baptista (Gilda), 12 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Manuel Maciel, and her parents Diamantina and Joao Baptista.
A private Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 21st at 9:30 am. We invite those who knew Mariana to view the live-streamed Mass by clicking HERE. Cremation will follow and a Celebration of Life and inurnment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation, or the Grand River Hospital Foundation.
