FEBRUARY 23, 1939 – MAY 22, 2023
On Monday May 22, 2023 in his 85th year, George passed away peacefully in his own home after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. George was born in Amynteo, Greece on February 23, 1939 and emigrated to Canada in October 1958 settling in Galt, Ontario.
Beloved husband of Eutarpe (née Bantis) for the past 59 years. Cherished father to Dorothy (Norm), Van (Suzanne) and super proud Papou of Kristen and Kaylee. He is survived by his sister Evangelina Bouctsis and brother-in-law Tom (Donna) Bantis of Toronto. George will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
George worked extremely hard at Canadian General Tower and he had many varied interests throughout his life. He enjoyed working in his garden, making and sharing his homemade wine, beekeeping, watching soccer games, especially the World Cup and playing cards. George also enjoyed his many trips to Greece to visit family and friends.
We would like to thank the many caregivers who have been with him over the past two years; Esther, Josina and her husband and in particular Lena, Rosa, Lexi and Sierra for their compassionate care in the days leading to his passing. He will be especially missed by his little buddy Jackson. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Celine Sandor and her team for their exceptional care over the past year.
Visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 4 – 8 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. with interment at Mount View Cemetery, a reception will follow.
