JANUARY 23, 1963 – JUNE 23, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Paul's passing on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at The Village at University Gates, Waterloo at the age of 59. Paul passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his family after a long and hard fought battle with Frontotemporal Dementia and Corticobasal Degeneration.
He is the beloved husband of Lisa (nee O'Neil) of 34 years, loving father of Chelsea and Michael, brother of Luis (Josie) and uncle to Melisa and Joelean. He is predecesed by his parents Joao and Zulmira. Paul will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his extended family and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 6 - 9 p.m. at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge (226-895-2163). A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory's Church, 10 St. Gregory's Drive, Cambridge and he will be laid to rest following the service at Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge.
As expressions of sympathy, donations made in Paul's memory to the Alzheimer Society or to The University Health Network Foundation - Krembil Brain Institute would be greatly appreciated.
A very special thank you first and foremost to The Village at University Gates, Matthew's Neighbourhood for making the last 18 months the best they could be. You are all amazing people! To the people who walked this journey with us - our St. Augustine C.E.S. family who was so understanding and supportive, especially Lisa's room 9 family - couldn't have done it without you. To my St. Louis family who ended this journey with me, thank you for your care and support from just coming in new. To Janice Werstine for being there from the beginning. Through thick and thin, words will never express my gratitude. Finally, to Dr. Adam Wilson, thank you for all of your support and guidance the last six years.
