PUIM, Maria Resendes

JANUARY 11, 1929 – SEPTEMBER 7, 2022

Maria Puim, age 93, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Wednesday Sept 7, 2022.

She was born January 11, 1929 in Santa Maria, (Azores) Portugal to Luis and Liduina (Resendes) Melo. Maria was married to her husband (predeceased) Manuel Chaves Puim in 1968 and moved to Canada in January, 1969. Maria didn’t ask for much, she led a simple life dedicated to taking care of others; she was her parent’s caretaker; and upon their passing she continued caring for others. She moved in with her sister Emilia (Fontes) and brother in law Antonino (Fontes) and helped care for her nieces and nephew; Gorett (Bruce), Cindy (Shawn) and Jeffrey (Erin).

Maria was a spunky soul. She loved to laugh, loved animals and above all else, she loved her family. She enjoyed family gatherings where everyone was together sharing a meal. She loved to spoil her great nieces and nephews; Laura, Spencer, Olivia and Owen. The family would like to thank Maria’s many PSWs, nurses and doctor that offered so much loving care and support throughout Maria’s journey.

Visitation services to be held on Monday Sept 12 between 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday Sept 13 at 10:00 am from St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, 10 St. Gregory Drive, Cambridge followed by interment at Mountview Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Gregory's Catholic Church.
