JANUARY 15, 1947 – AUGUST 14, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce Doug's passing on Sunday, August 14th, 2022 at the age of 75. Doug passed peacefully in the comfort of his home with loved ones by his side.

He was the youngest son of Oliver and Lenore Ridsdale, growing up on Brant Road South in Galt. He is sorrowfully missed by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Ridsdale; and by sisters: Judi (Peter) Murray and Gerry (David) Blacklock and his older brother Cameron (Sharon) Ridsdale. He will also be sorely missed by all of his cousins, nieces and nephews and their families and the many friends he had in Cambridge, Canada and New Zealand.

Doug was a lifelong resident of Cambridge and always active in the city with the exception of the year he and Cheryl lived in New Zealand. He was an active member of the Galt Country Club where he curled and golfed for over 40 years. He loved to travel and golfed in many exotic places around the world.

A prominent businessman, he was the third generation to own and operate the family business "Ridsdale Metal Products Inc." now in the hands of nephew Jim Blacklock and partners. Doug was always busy and wore many hats throughout the years, some of his proudest achievements include: obtaining his degree in Business Administration from Mohawk College, a recipient of the 125th year of Confederation Commemorative medal, President of Cambridge Chamber of Commerce and Director of Ontario Chamber of Commerce, lifelong member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church - now Westside Presbyterian Church, executive of Galt Kinsmen Club, member of the 40 Club of Galt, Chairman of the Hydroelectric Commission for Cambridge North Dumfries, longtime hockey player and member of the YMCA as well as director for the National Red Brick Corporation.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service has been held. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations made in Doug's memory to "The Building Fund" of Westside Presbyterian Church, or to a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated.
