It is with broken hearts that we announce Brett's tragic, untimely passing on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the age of 43.
Proud and loving father to Liam and Cooper Riley, and friend to their mother Becky Riley (Jason Rutherford). Beloved fiancé to Shannon D'Onofrio and step-father to Skylar Lang. Treasured son to Gerald (Keeley) and Joanne Riley and Grandson to Nana Shirley Gilmour. Dear brother to Sean (Claire) Riley, step-brother to Boston Detweiler and special uncle to Luke, Ben and Leah Riley. Brett will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his extended family and many friends. Anyone that knew Brett knows what a kind, giving and hard working man he was. He was so incredibly proud of his children, he loved being a dad and wanted nothing more in this life than to take care of and provide for his family. He loved music and had a great appreciation for the artistry of songwriting - both for meaningful lyrics and the music itself.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge (519-621-1650) from 6-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held the following day, on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Brett worked hard to ensure that his children were taken care of and could have the education they wanted. An account has been set up to accept donations in his memory for his children. Please contact the funeral home should you wish to donate.
