It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my father, Ronald Jack Smith in Cambridge Memorial Hospital on March 25, 2023 just shy of his ninety second birthday.  He is survived by daughter Kim Smith (Kenn Thomas) of Cambridge. Also survived by sister and brother-in-law Linda and Roy Reeby, four nephews and numerous cousins in England.

Predeceased by his parents Edward Smith and Freda Smith (Martin), sister Barbara Townsend and brother Tony (in infancy). His greatest loss was my mother Mona Smith (Slade) in 2017 after 64 years of marriage.

Dad was a man of humble beginnings who joined the Royal Navy in 1947 as a young teenager, serving until 1956. The Navy is where he received his greatest education in life by traveling to exotic lands on the rolling sea which he loved. There he also studied electrical engineering which was put to good use after immigrating to Canada with my mother. In 1958 he secured a position at Allen Bradley ( Rockwell) in the test and quality control department where he stayed until retiring in 1991.

Dad was a gentleman and a gentle man. He had an amazing artistic talent for painting and drawing in many different mediums. He also enjoyed writing poetry that was often quite amusing or profoundly moving. I will miss him immensely.  Thank you to the many doctors, nurses, PSW's and technicians who cared for him during his last week.

There will be no visitation or funeral service and cremation has taken place. In memory of Ron donations to the Charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
