Thomas James Weiler passed away unexpectedly at Cambridge Memorial Hospital after a short battle with melanoma cancer in his 77th year.

Thomas will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Nancy of 57 years, his children Thomas Jr. (Sharon Barnes), Tammy (Ray Cole) and Trevor. Grandchildren Mitchell, Tayler, Maddi, Tanner, Hunter and Lily. Sister Pat (Al Dankowsky) and brother-in-law Richard Teet (Sharon) and loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by son Todd, parents Simon and Helen (Duffy), father-in-law Derwood Teet, mother-in-law Rosina “Rose” Teet (Alex Steadman) and brother-in-law Gerold.

Thomas worked at Canadian General Tower for 38 years before retiring and taking up wood carving. He was a member of the Grand Valley Woodcarvers and the Wilmont Wood Carvers Association. Thomas was an original member of the World-Famous Preston Scout House Band. He was also a founding member of the Preston Scout House Alumni Band. Thomas was a member of the Preston Legion, Branch 126 and an Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Rd, Cambridge) on Tuesday April 12th from 7pm - 9pm. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Clement’s Parish (745 Duke St, Cambridge) on Wednesday April 13th at 10am with a celebration of life to follow at the Preston Legion, Branch 126 (334 Westminster Dr, Cambridge). A private burial will take place Thursday April 14th, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (melanoma), Preston Scout House Band Inc. or St Clement’s Parish would be appreciated.
