NOVEMBER 29, 1928 – FEBRUARY 18, 2023

Chester went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb 18 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in his 95th year. He was born in Middle Sackville on November 29, 1928, to the late Reginald and Nettie (Stiles) Wheaton of Sackville, NB. He was the second of 7 siblings. Chester married his wife Barbara on May 23, 1949.

In 1951, he and his family moved to Sudbury ON to follow employment opportunities at Vale, (previously International Nickel Co of Canada) where he worked for the next 34 years. He retired in 1986. Two years later, he and Barbara moved to Cambridge to be near their children and grandchildren. They have resided there until the present.

Chester was an active member of Hespeler Baptist Church. He loved to garden and to work on building projects. He was always available to help family and friends with their building projects not only locally but in more distant places such as villages in Northern Quebec, towns in Ontario and even Guatemala.

Chester is survived by Barbara, his wife of 73 years, his daughter Faye (Cambridge), his son Byron (Jackie) of Kingston ON, his grandchildren Laura of Kingston, ON, Benjamin of Toronto, ON, Esther (Dave) of Kitchener, ON, and Mark (Catherine) of Metcalfe, ON. His two great grandchildren Cassidy and Daniel have more recently brought him great joy. He also has two surviving brothers, Clair (Pat) and Ronald both of Sackville, NB. He was predeceased by his brothers Raymond, Kenneth, and Orlie and his sister Florence.

Visitation will be on Feb 24, 2023 from 7-9 PM at the Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St Andrews St, Cambridge ON. A service of worship and thanksgiving for the life of Chester Wheaton will be held at Hespeler Baptist Church on Saturday Feb 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/live/hpFqQ_TJEiw?feature=share .

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Chester to Northern Canada Evangelical Mission at https://ncem.ca/donate/ with a memo designating their TV program “Tribal Trails” or to the charity of your choice.
