JANUARY 2, 1932 – JULY 28, 2021

Roger left this world peacefully on July 28, 2021, at the age of 89, after his amazing heart had given all it had to give.

Predeceased by his parents and his 6 siblings. With Audrey by his side for 68 years, he created a truly memorable life.

He was the rock of his family, guiding Brenda (Bob) Bowie, Scott (Cindy), and Janice (Pat) Guenard. His 6 grandchildren, Adam (Erin), Laura (Jake), Ashlyn (Adam), Stephen (Hope), Jocelyne (Tyler) and Brittaney (Dillon) were also fortunate to have him play an active role in their lives, and he was blessed to meet the next generation of 6 great-grandchildren. Roger worked at Canadian General Tower for many years and then, before commuting was even a word, he ventured out everyday on the two-lane highway called the 401 to work in Toronto.

He was connected to and very involved in his church, Knox’s Galt, the Galt Masonic Lodge, and the Men’s Probus Club. Roger loved sports of all kinds and enjoyed golfing and curling for many years at the Galt Country Club. He was always up for a good competitive game of cards, be it euchre, bridge, poker or cribbage. In his earlier years, he was an active coach in all kinds of minor sports and later enjoyed spending many an afternoon at a ball field or arena supporting his grandchildren’s teams. Roger showed us all what a gentleman was; he taught us so many things before we knew they were important to understand and appreciate.

How blessed are we that not only as his family did we learn, but that he was able to share his life lessons and teachings with his grandchildren and be part of their foundations. Our heartfelt thanks to all of the amazing people who cared for Roger throughout his life and particularly to the doctors and his “angels” in the ICU at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their compassion with Roger and his family this past week. As he said many times, “We live in the best place in the world.”
