Arrest made in relation to series of catalytic converter thefts in region

The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s General Investigations Unit have arrested and charged one individual in connection to an ongoing investigation involving the theft of catalytic converters in the Region.

On Feb. 9, 2022, at approximately 6 p.m., investigators arrested a 36-year-old Kitchener male in relation to six incidents of catalytic converter thefts that occurred between April and Nov. 2021.

As a result of the investigation, the male has been charged with eight counts of theft under $5000 and eight counts of mischief under $5000.

The investigation is ongoing.
