Arrests made after local dealerships stung by $200K in thefts

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft Team have made arrests in several drive-off thefts that occurred in Waterloo Region. 

Between February 2022 and August 2022, six vehicle drive-off thefts have occurred at several dealerships throughout the region. 

The suspects distracted the salesperson and then stole the vehicle being shown to them. 

The stolen vehicles include two Dodge Rams, two Dodge Caravans, a Honda Accord and a Jaguar. 

On Aug. 18, 2022, the Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft Team, with assistance from the Direct Action Response Team, completed a search warrant at a residence in Milton. 

Five vehicles were recovered on the property, including a Jaguar and Dodge Ram, that were stolen from Waterloo Region. The total value of the recovered vehicles is approximately $200,000.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old male and a 28-year-old male, both from Milton, have been charged with six counts of theft of motor vehicle and two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000.
