Cambridge driver accused of going 170 km/h in an 80 zone

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA – On September 3, 2021, at approximately 6:15 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Wellington Road 22, near Jones Baseline in Guelph-Eramosa.

The officer observed a red pick-up truck travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 170 km/h.

As a result, Mitchell Nathan Rowland, 22 years old of Cambridge has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Nov. 17, 2021.

The defendant's vehicle and driver's licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
