Cambridge driver faces rash of charges after stop in Fergus

The driver is also facing charges of no license and fail to display two plates

On Aug. 7, 2022, at approximately 8 a.m., an officer with the Wellington County OPP observed a black passenger vehicle travelling well above the posted speed limit of 60 km/hr on Tower Street S, Fergus. The officer stopped the vehicle, and as a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Cambridge driver has been charged with the following:

  • CC 320.15(1) failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • HTA 172(1) drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed
  • HTA 32(1) drive motor vehicle - no license
  • HTA 7(1)(b)(i) drive motor vehicle - fail to display two plates
  • HTA 7(5)(a) fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • HTA 141(6) improper left turn
  • HTA 128 speeding 50+ km/hr over posted speed limit

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.
