In January 2021, as a result of an ongoing investigation into child pornography, the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime - Internet Child Exploitation Unit conducted a search warrant at a Cambridge residence.

At that time, a 27-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, making available child pornography, possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of breach probation.

As a result of further investigation and computer forensic analysis of the subject's devices seized after the warrant was completed, the accused has now been charged with numerous additional offences.

On one social media platform, the accused was found to be allegedly interacting with four children. As a result, the male was charged with:

  • Four counts of luring a child
  • Two counts of making child pornography
  • Four counts of making sexually explicit material available to a child
  • Two counts of invitation to sexual touching; and
  • Sexual interference

On a second social media platform, the accused was alleged to be communicating with a 12-year-old female believed to be in the United States. With the assistance of the United States Department of Homeland Security, the child was identified, and the accused was charged with:

  • Luring a child
  • Making child pornography
  • Breach of prohibition order

On an additional website, the accused allegedly posted intimate images of an adult female. The investigation into this incident, which included historical allegations, resulted in the accused being charged with:

  • Sexual assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm
  • Two counts of distribution of intimate images
