(BLUEWATER, ON) - A Cambridge resident has been charged with Impaired Operation charges following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Canada Day.

At approximately 5:27 p.m. on July 1, 2021 Huron OPP officers received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver that was travelling eastbound on Dashwood Road.

An OPP officer was able to locate the suspect vehicle on Dashwood Road and after observing some erratic driving the investigating officer initiated a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment.

As a result the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit.

A 28-year-old man from Cambridge has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 9, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.

An automatic 90-day driver's licence suspension has been served on the driver and his vehicle has been impounded.
