Cambridge man dies after his car hits construction equipment

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Services Unit continue to investigate a fatal collision that occurred overnight in Cambridge.

On May 22, 2022, at approximately 7:15 a.m., emergency services responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Bismark Dr. and Westcliff Way.

Through the initial investigation, it was determined that a Kia Optima was being driven east on Bismark Dr. in an area under construction. The Kia then left the roadway and struck a piece of construction equipment.

The driver and lone occupant, a 38-year-old Cambridge male, was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of the collision.

The investigation is ongoing by members of our Traffic Services Unit.
