Cambridge man faces charges after Pride signs were vandalized

Police allege 59-year-old man also made threatening comments

Pride signs are displayed on nearly every business on Main Street in downtown Galt.

Waterloo regional police have arrested a man in connection to several reports of hate-related incidents that occurred on Ainslie and Main streets in Cambridge. 

On the afternoon of June 1, police received calls about a man removing Pride signs from businesses windows and, later, while at another business making threatening comments to cause harm to others. 

There were no physical injuries reported. 

On June 8, police learned of more incidents involving thefts of Pride signs from local businesses in the same area. 

On June 9, as a result of the investigation, police arrested a 59-year-old Cambridge man. 

The accused was charged with six counts of Mischief under $5,000 and Uttering Threats to Cause Death. 

The man was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
