Cambridge man facing weapons charges after dispute

The 22-year-old was arrested and charged with firearm possession

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male in connection to a weapons call in Cambridge. 

On May 20, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police received a report of a male brandishing a firearm during a dispute with several other individuals in the area of Elgin St. North and Alison Ave.. Police responded and attempted to locate the male subject who had fled the area.

There were no physical injuries reported as a result of this incident.

Through investigation, police subsequently identified and located the subject male. On May 21, 2022, at approximately 7 a.m., police arrested and charged a 22-year-old Cambridge male with the following offences:

  • Pointing a firearm (three counts)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing. 

The investigation remains ongoing by officers from WRPS’ Neighbourhood Policing South Division.
