Driver, 19, charged in October crash that killed Cambridge nurse

22-year-old driver from Wilmot Township died in crash, while 16-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries

Police have laid charges in connection with a crash in October that resulted in the death of Cambridge Memorial Hospital nurse.

On Oct. 15, emergency services responded to a collision between a black Ford and a white Nissan in the area of Punkeydoodles Avenue and Oxford Road 5 in Wilmot Township.

The driver of the Nissan, a 22-year-old Wilmot Township female, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old Wilmot Township female, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with life-threatening-injuries.

As a result of the investigation, investigators from Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Services Unit have arrested and charged the driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old male from Oakville, with the following offences: 

  • Dangerous Driving - Causing Death 
  • Dangerous Driving - Causing Bodily Harm
  • Careless Driving - Causing Death
  • Careless Driving - Causing Bodily Harm
  • Speeding
  • Stunt Driving

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20.
