Driver takes off during police traffic stop

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Neighbourhood Policing South Division have charged a driver after conducting traffic enforcement in Cambridge. 

On July 16, 2022, at approximately 12:05 p.m., police were in the area of King Street East at the 401 bridge. 

Officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the driver of the vehicle fled. 

Police later observed the vehicle parked and unoccupied on Preston Parkway. A male, later identified as the driver, returned to the vehicle and was arrested. 

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Kitchener male was charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle and speeding. 
The investigation is ongoing.
