Eighth fatal collision in Waterloo Region in 2021 involves motorcycle and buggy

WATERLOO REGION – Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Unit continue to investigate a fatal collision in Woolwich Township. 

On July 28, 2021, at approximately 9:45 a.m., emergency services responded to the area of Church Street East, near Arthur Street North, for a collision involving a horse and buggy and a motorcycle. 

Through the initial investigation, it was determined that the horse and buggy was travelling east on Church Street and the motorcycle was travelling west on Church Street, toward Arthur Street North. 

The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old Elmira male, was transported to hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing by members of our Traffic Services Unit.

This is the eighth fatal collision in Waterloo Region in 2021.
